What Is a Yankee?
A Yankee is an 11-bet system built from 4 selections: 6 doubles, 4 trebles and 1 four-fold accumulator. Unlike a Lucky 15, it does not include any singles — which means you need at least 2 of your 4 selections to win before you see any return at all.
The 11 Lines
With four selections A, B, C and D, a Yankee covers: 6 doubles (AB, AC, AD, BC, BD, CD), 4 trebles (ABC, ABD, ACD, BCD), and 1 four-fold (ABCD). A £1 Yankee costs £11 total, or £22 taken each-way.
How Many Winners Do You Need?
With only 1 winner, every line in a Yankee fails — the smallest combination is a double, which needs 2 winners minimum. With exactly 2 winners, you collect on the single double that combines those two selections, and nothing else. With 3 winners, you collect on 3 doubles and 1 treble. With all 4 winning, every one of the 11 lines pays out, and the four-fold alone (all four sets of odds multiplied together) can produce a substantial return from a small stake.
Yankee vs Lucky 15
The Lucky 15 uses the same 4 selections but adds the 4 singles on top, making it 15 lines instead of 11, and meaning a single winner guarantees some return. The trade-off is cost: a Lucky 15 costs more per unit stake (15 lines vs 11) for that extra safety net. If you're confident that at least 2 of your 4 selections are likely to win, a Yankee is the cheaper way to cover the same combinations — if you want protection against only 1 selection winning, the Lucky 15's singles are worth the extra 4 lines of stake.
Using the Bet Calculator
The bet calculator lets you enter your four selections' odds, mark each as Won, Placed, Lost or Non-Runner once results are known, and see the total Yankee return instantly — including each-way place returns and standard non-runner handling, where a void leg is removed from every line it appears in rather than voiding the whole bet.
